Your drives stay yours.

0 accounts0 sign-ups0 analytics0 ads0 servers of ours

The short version: Slashie has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads and no servers of ours. Your drives are stored on your iPhone (and your Mac, with Slashie for Mac) and sync only through your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read. Slashie reads your calendar on your iPhone or Mac to work out which job each drive was for. Event titles are saved only with matching drives, and the keywords you approve and the name and account of each calendar you send to a slash are saved with that slash, all in your private iCloud; event addresses are looked up with Apple Maps. Nothing is sent to us.

/01

Who we are

Slashie is made by Little Lumen Labs LLC ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Slashie app for iPhone, Slashie for Mac and this website.

/02

What we collect

Nothing reaches us unless you send it. We run no backend, so we have no copy of your trips, vehicles, places, slashes or calendar. The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and it does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.

What we do see is what you choose to send us: an email to support, and a diagnostics file if you share one with us. That file holds your recent drives with their full routes and addresses; Diagnostics and feedback lists what is in it.

/03

Where your data lives

Everything the app records is stored on your iPhone: trips and their GPS routes, start and end addresses, slashes, hubs and home base, vehicles, preferences and diagnostics. If iCloud is on for your Apple Account, it syncs through your private CloudKit database. That database belongs to your Apple Account, and Apple stores it under the Apple Privacy Policy. Developers, including us, cannot read private databases.

Slashie for Mac records nothing itself: it asks for no location, motion or Bluetooth. It gets the same data through that private database, keeps a copy on your Mac, and syncs what you change there the same way.

Each drive is also indexed for Spotlight, by the device's own on-device index, so you can find it from the search field; that index goes with the app and with Delete All Data, and a switch in Settings turns it off.

/04

Location

With "Always" permission, Slashie uses precise location to detect drives in the background and to record each route. Two Apple services receive coordinates so the app can work: Apple Maps, which snaps routes to roads and estimates distance, and Apple's geocoder, which turns start and end points into addresses. Both are governed by Apple's privacy policy, not by us. Location data is never used for advertising and never shared with anyone else.

/05

Motion & fitness

Slashie reads your iPhone's motion activity (driving, walking, stationary) to tell when a drive starts and stops. This classification happens on the device, and the readings are not stored beyond what each trip's diagnostics record.

/06

Bluetooth

Slashie scans for your car's Bluetooth so it knows when you get in. It stores only the identifiers and advertised services of the devices you choose as vehicles. These stay on your devices and in your private iCloud, like the rest of your data.

/07

Calendar

If you connect a calendar, Slashie asks for read access and checks event titles, times and locations on your iPhone (or on your Mac, with Slashie for Mac) against the end of each drive. Nothing is sent to us, and Slashie never creates, changes or deletes events.

Five things are stored. When a drive matches an event, the trip keeps a small copy of that match (event title, start and end time, location text and calendar identifier), so your mileage log can show the business purpose. That copy syncs with the trip through your private iCloud. Words from your event titles that you approve as keywords for a slash (say, “Showing” for /Real Estate) are saved with that slash and sync the same way. When you send a whole calendar to a slash, its name and its account's name as iOS shows it (often your email address) are saved with that slash and sync the same way, so your other devices find the same calendar. When you turn a calendar off, its name and its account's name are saved in your private iCloud (as app settings, in iCloud key-value storage), so your other devices leave it off too. When an event has an address but no map coordinates, its location text (never the title) is sent to Apple Maps (Apple's geocoder) with the area around where the drive ended (around your home base, when a drive has no end point) to find the spot, and the result is cached on your iPhone or Mac.

You can turn off any single calendar, so Slashie never reads it, or disconnect entirely, in Settings → Calendar, or in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars. On a Mac, use Calendars in Slashie's sidebar, or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

/08

Notifications

The trip reminders and the weekly digest are local notifications, scheduled on your iPhone. iCloud sync uses silent push notifications from Apple to learn about changes made on your other devices.

/09

Diagnostics and feedback

Slashie keeps a diagnostics journal on your iPhone to help find missed drives: two weeks of app events, such as when the app woke, what it decided and how tracking went. Where your iPhone was when the app woke (an idle location or a visit) is kept only to about a kilometre; where a drive started is kept as recorded. The journal names no car and no saved place. It stays on your iPhone. Slashie for Mac keeps a journal of its own on your Mac, which stays there: the Mac has no Send diagnostics.

Tapping Send diagnostics (Settings → Support → Diagnostics) builds a file on your iPhone. It holds that journal; your drives from the last 30 days (up to 50), each with its full route and the raw GPS recorded on this iPhone, its times and miles, where it started and ended with the addresses, and its notes; the drives you tagged or wrote a note on and the missed drives you reported, from the same 30 days; the gaps between those drives; and a summary of the app: its version, your iPhone's model and iOS version, Slashie's permissions, whether Bluetooth, Low Power Mode and Background App Refresh are on, your Slashie Pro plan, and how many drives, paired cars and watched places it has. The file leaves your iPhone only when you share it, and you choose who gets it, so send it only to people you trust. If you send it to us, we use it only to look into the problem you reported.

Crash and performance reports that you allow Apple to share with developers reach us through Apple and contain no trip data.

/10

Exports

The PDF and CSV mileage logs are created on your iPhone, or on your Mac. Where they go is up to you: through the share sheet, or on the Mac, to the folder you choose or wherever you drag them.

/11

Purchases

Slashie Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple takes the payment and holds the billing details; we never see them. The app asks Apple, on your iPhone or Mac, whether your Apple Account has Slashie Pro, and keeps the answer on the device. There is no Slashie account behind a purchase, and tracking your drives never depends on one.

/12

Deleting your data

You can delete any trip in the app. To remove everything, delete Slashie from your iPhone. On a Mac, delete Slashie for Mac and its folder in ~/Library/Containers, which macOS keeps when an app is deleted. To remove the iCloud copy, go to iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Slashie. Since we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
